Miriam Griffin was born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee, and has lived in Missoula, Montana since 2011. She received her BFA from The University of Montana in 2013, and has also studied at Bard College at Simon’s Rock, Penland School of Crafts, and Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts. Her ceramic sculptures, pottery, and drawings reflect interests in animal life, environmental destruction, and social justice. Currently, Miriam is beginning her second year as a resident artist at The Clay Studio of Missoula.

In this body of work, I’ve drawn inspiration from my favorite internet activity (looking at pictures of bats) as well as my most prolific studio activity (swatting flies).
