For 40 plus years, Briscoe’s sustaining passion for being a potter has come from a desire to create pots that are beautiful to look at and hold. He wants them to give distinct pleasure in use – to allow a subtle conversation over time.
Briscoe points his work towards a quiet simplicity. He looks to subtlety and nuance as the foundation for his aesthetic. The essence that he is seeking in this work is a stripped, almost brutal, rawness.
