Joh Keefe is an artist living and working on the Monterey Bay. Joh is the Co-Owner of Peninsula Potters in Pacific Grove, CA, a cooperative that has been in operation for 58 years. She is a Professor of Ceramics at Hartnell College in Salinas, CA. Joh has a BFA in ceramics from KCAI and an MFA from USF. Joh is dedicated to an art making practice that values experimentation and curiosity above production.

Joh Keefe makes work that investigates material value and luxury. Her work expresses an interest in the historical manufacture and exportation of finely handmade objects of utility, especially ceramics. Her recent work plays with the transforming luxury trade markets from the16th century to present. The focus of this new work draws inspiration from religious relics and the ceramic souvenir. Her ceramic work joins in the creation of religious ceremonial object making in 21st century California.
