Cheri Thornton holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA, a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Ceramics from the University of Massachusetts/Dartmouth, and is a former resident artist of the Archie Bray Foundation for Ceramic Arts in Helena, MT.  Currently, she lives in the foothills of Helena, Montana with her husband and their four young children, who keep Cheri quite busy beyond the studio walls.

I make porcelain ceramic wares for everyday use and enjoyment.  I love drawing lines and making marks on leather hard clay—following my curiosities, asking questions, playing, responding to composition, and following the form.

My process includes inlay, sgraffito, and/or painting with underglaze. All my work is either thrown on the wheel or hand-built and is made from grolleg porcelain, which I fire to Cone 7.
