Red Lodge Clay Center Short-Term Resident (AIA) 2026
Jackie Sullivan is a Wisconsin-based studio potter creating colorful, modern pottery for everyday use. Inspired by Scandinavian design and the landscapes of the Upper Midwest, she makes functional stoneware pots that combine clean forms with playful color. When she is not in the studio, Jackie can be found gardening, hiking with her husband and their dogs, backpacking, rock climbing, or exploring wild places—experiences that inspire the colors, textures, and sense of joy found in her work.
Color , simplicity, and joy are the pillars that influence my pottery. I’m drawn to clean lines, balanced forms, and the idea that beautiful objects should also be durable, practical, inviting, and made to be used every day.
Living in Wisconsin, I find endless inspiration in Midwestern landscapes—tones of evergreens, prairie wildflowers, quiet forests, winding rivers, and the changing colors of the seasons. Outside the studio, I spend time gardening, hiking with my husband and our dogs, backpacking, rock climbing, and seeking out new outdoor adventures. Those experiences shape the colors, textures, and feeling of my work, inspiring pieces that reflect both the calm and the vibrancy of the natural world.
Every piece is made by hand in small batches, embracing the subtle variations that make handmade work unique. These pieces long to become part of everyday rituals: a favorite mug for morning coffee after an early hike, bowls shared around a table with family and friends, or a vase filled with flowers gathered from the garden. I want my work to bring a sense of warmth, connection, and delight to the moments we return to again and again.
