Red Lodge Clay Center Short-Term Resident (AIA) 2026
Talia Silva (she/her) is a ceramic artist and designer based in Toronto, Canada. Working primarily in hand-built porcelain and stoneware, she creates sculptural and functional objects that explore the fleeting traces of time, presence, and change through hand-built forms and carved surfaces. She holds a BA in Environmental Design from the Ontario College of Art and Design, and has developed her ceramic practice through independent study, workshops, and a 2024 residency at The Watershed Center for Ceramic Arts. Her work has been featured in juried exhibitions and was recognized with the 2023 Gardiner Museum Shop Award. She currently serves on the boards of Fusion: Clay and Glass Ontario and the Toronto Potters Guild, where she also teaches ceramics.
I am fascinated by the fleeting traces through which time, presence, and change become visible. In natural formations and architecture, I am drawn to patterns, textures, and impressions that might reveal what is often overlooked.
Working in clay, I use hand-building and carving as slow, attentive processes of discovery. Through repetition, touch, and mark-making, I explore how the intangible can be held within physical form. Making becomes another way of paying attention: a meditation on time, presence, and the quiet accumulation of small gestures.
My work is an invitation to pause in a world that moves quickly. I hope it invites moments of wonder and curiosity, revealing that even the most ordinary details can become extraordinary when we choose to look closely.
