Wood-fired pottery that has been reduction cooled is the cohesive element of all the work that is included in this exhibition. While this firing process is the commonality, each maker’s work is distinctly different as a result of each artist employing various cooling methods and cooling temperatures. Other diversifying factors include varying kiln types, clay bodies, slips, glazes, wood sources, and firing durations. The possibilities of the reduction cooled pallet, ranging from re-oxidized reds to metallic maroons and blacks are all celebrated in this collection of works made by potters from around the US, and is guest curated by Seth Green.
